Frequently asked questions
About Shilajit
What is Shilajit?
Shilajit is a dark, sticky mineral resin found in high mountain rock. It forms over a very long time as plant matter breaks down, and it’s sold today as a food supplement.
How can I tell whether Shilajit is real?
Texture, smell and how it dissolves can give you clues, but they can’t prove purity or safety. For that, ask for a lab report that covers heavy metals, microbes and fulvic acid, ideally matched to the batch number on your jar.
Is Shilajit only for men?
No. Adult men and women both take it. It’s often marketed towards men, but that says more about the marketing than about who uses it.
Who shouldn’t take Shilajit?
It isn’t suitable if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding or under 18. If you have a health condition or take anything on prescription, speak to your doctor first.
How much should I take?
Follow the directions on your product’s label, and don’t go over the recommended amount. Strength varies between brands and formats, so one brand’s directions may not apply to another.
What’s the difference between resin and drops?
Resin is the traditional form, and you dissolve a small amount in a warm drink yourself. Drops are already liquid, which makes them quicker to use. When comparing them, check each product’s ingredients and lab report rather than assuming they’re the same.
